Update

On October 3-4 an important workshop is taking place in Dushanbe within the framework of the “Strengthening resilience to disasters and climate change in Tajikistan” joint project of the UNDRR and the Government of Switzerland.

The Climate Risk and Early Warning Systems Initiative (CREWS) project is launched in Djibouti to enhance the nation's resilience against climate-related hazards.

UNDRR has extended its collaboration with Montenegro, focusing on improving disaster resilience in three key municipalities: Podgorica, Ulcinj, and Žabljak.

A technical workshop in Mahé, Seychelles from the 17th to 18th of September 2024, resulted in the development of a roadmap to enhance integrated disaster risk reduction (DRR) and climate change adaptation (CCA) planning.

Kazakhstan and the Netherlands collaborated on flood risk management. A training in Astana focused on enhancing flood resilience using advanced technologies, with support from the UNDRR to improve disaster response and interagency coordination.

In 2024, six women who have achieved exceptional professional success in disaster risk reduction have been chosen as finalists for the Women’s International Network for Disaster Risk Reduction (WIN DRR) Excellence Award.

Five Central Asian nations – Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan – reaffirmed their commitment to safe and resilient schools for children this week – with four endorsing the Comprehensive Safe Schools Framework.
