Arab Region Meeting on the Implementation of Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction

The Arab regional meeting that will take place in Cairo, Egypt aims at introducing the World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (WCDRR) outcomes and the new Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction (SFDRR) to the Arab region.
The meeting will also review and update the Arab Strategy for Disaster Risk Reduction to ensure coherence with the SFDRR and other regional commitments, including the Aqaba Declaration on Disaster Risk Reduction in Cities and the Sharm El Sheikh Declaration on Disaster Risk Reduction.
The regional meeting will launch an Arab Science and Technology Advisory Group to support DRR research, planning and review in the region.
The workshop will also relaunch the Making Cities Resilient Campaign in the Arab region and will discuss priorities for local implementation of the Sendai Framework. It will further seek feedback on the newly proposed local indicators of the SFDRR.
During the context of the workshop, the Community of Tuti Island in Sudan will be recognized as Champion of Disaster Risk Reduction for their support in advancing the disaster risk reduction agenda.
